3Solid Flag w/Eagle Hitch Cover
By R. Waid
I purchased the Flag w/Eagle Hitch Cover because my old one broke (cheap plastic). I always do thorough searches before I buy anything, and this time was no different. I'm sure there are other hitch covers that may be just as nice to some people, but this one really stuck out to me. It's a piece of art to me, is fully cast metal (looks like brass), and includes screw-on aluminum brackets and screws for 1 1/4" and 2" hitch receivers, and the brackets are pre-drilled for differing depths for the pin or lock. It measures 4 5/8" wide X 3 1/2" high and weighs a little more than 1 pound. The flag is on top of the base, and the eagle is on top of that, which makes the whole cover 5/8" thick from the back of the base to the front of the eagle. The only problem is the gasket, which was too thin to keep the cover from rattling, so I made another gasket and it's now very solid. It still gets 5 stars from me for design and looks, despite the gasket. It will probably outlast my '03 To yota Tundra.

Edit: 3 months later, I have a serious problem with the cover. The gold colored finish is coming off the eagle's feathers and the entire plate surrounding the flag looks like it's been sand-blasted and sanded. The wear comes from normal driving on streets and highways. I will now need to sand and repaint all the gold, and then seal the entire cover before it starts to rust. I hoped it would last a long time, but after just a few months, I doubt it would last more than a year without losing all its paint and rusting. The rating goes down to 3 stars.
